The mission of SHHP’s Protection Connection program is to reduce STI/HIV risk by normalizing condom use and increasing awareness of harm reduction principles and techniques.
The Protection Connection program is comprised of a statewide network of community-based organizations that distribute information and harm reduction tools (condoms) through promotional campaigns, recruitment events, and approved local condom sites.
Protection Connection sites are located in a variety of settings: public health clinics, community-based organizations, gatekeepers, and commercial businesses (e.g. beauty shops, bars, tattoo parlors, and more). The majority of sites can be found in priority communities where there are high prevalence rates of HIV and other STIs (syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, etc.).
All materials are provided at no cost to the recipient.
We encourage people who are sexually active (or are planning to be) to explore the harm reduction resources described or linked to through this site. Condom use is but one of several harm reduction methods to help lower risks of contracting or transmitting HIV or other STIs. Abstinence is 100% effective at prevention of STIs – consistent condom use is a close second.
Feel free to utilize our map to help you locate approved condom sites near you!
