There are more options than ever today to prevent and treat HIV.

The medications used to treat people with HIV work to lower the virus to very low, often undetectable, levels. When the virus is undetectable, HIV is not passed through sex.

For people who do not have HIV, a daily pill called PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis) provides ongoing protection. PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis) is for emergency situations only and must be taken with 72 hours of possible exposure to HIV. Condoms protect against most STDs, including HIV.

It all starts with a test. Make testing for HIV and other STD testing part of your health routine!

We all have a part to play in ending HIV.

FREE, fast HIV testing is available. Many places offer testing for other STDs. Find out about testing options and recommendations. Make testing part of your health routine.
