More than 2.4 million people in the U.S. are living with Hepatitis C, a viral infection that affects the liver. A cure is now available with prescription treatment. There is a vaccine for another form of the virus, Hepatitis B.

The Louisiana Department of Health’s STI/HIV/Hepatitis Program (SHHP) coordinates a number of statewide and regional programs designed to prevent HIV and other STIs, to ensure the availability of quality medical and social services for HIV infected and affected individuals, and to track the impact of the epidemic in Louisiana.
